As long as you aren't using any other JavaScript libraries that may conflict with this code, it shouldn't be a problem at all. If you want to use a plugin, you can check out the WP Nivo Slider plugin. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-nivo-slider/ I have never used the WordPress plugin for Nivo Slider, but I have used Nivo Slider as a stand alone jQuery plugin, and it is fantastic.
